A simple Google search yielded a lot of relevent results. However, I'd also like to hear from others so that I can get some more solid recommendations

You can do it pretty easily in windows movie maker. I did it once and i dont even have any idea how to use it .

I use this free program called: "AOA Audio Extractor." I find it very simple and easy to use.

For a more proffessional approach use Adobe Preimer pro ...or for a easier way use Adobe Audition which used to be Cool edit Pro.

Id use audition as its very easy, just drag and drop the movie, it will split the audio and motion. Delete the motion and bounce the audio down to a saved file.
